The International Bank of Yemen (IBY) was established in January 1979 by a Presidential decree. The bank administers its operations in the Republic of Yemen through it head office and 19 branches, 9 in the capital city and the others in Aden, Hodeidah, Mukalla, Taiz, Ibb, Sayun, and Dhamar.

Established with a capital of YR50 million, which has now increased to YR5,100,000,000. This substantial growth reflects real progress in the banks activities and in it profitability, inspiring the trust and confidence. To cater for further expansions, the board of directors recently decided to raise the capital base to YR9 billion.

In May 2002 IBY moved into its new purpose-built premises.

The bank is electronically linked to the swift network that enables it to provide fast and reliable international services. IBY has the state of the art banking applications, Equation DBA from MISYS U.K. running on IBM AS/400. The head office of the bank and its branches are linked in a real time on line environment.
